Common questions

Can you certify a copy without me travelling to Ottawa?

Yes. You courier the original to us in a tracked envelope, the notary certifies against it, and the original returns to you the same week. Only acts that legally require your personal appearance need you in the room.

My document is in Ukrainian. Can a Canadian notary certify it?

Copy certification works regardless of language. For signature certifications on a Ukrainian-language text, we prepare the bilingual form the notary and the Ukrainian receiving side both accept.

Why was my earlier notarization rejected in Ukraine?

Do I always need the apostille on top of notarization?

For Ukrainian state bodies, almost always yes since 11 January 2024 under the Hague Convention. Some private counterparties accept a certified copy alone; we confirm with the receiver before adding steps.
